A NOTE FROM THE FOUNDER

Hey, I'm Nathaniel.

I started Gage, and I want to make you one promise up front: the price you start at is the price you keep.

If you come aboard at a price, that price is yours for as long as you keep the plan. Not until launch. Not until we raise money, hire someone who owns a pricing spreadsheet, or find out what the market will bear. The rates on the pricing page today are early rates. They will go up for people who arrive later. Yours won't move.

Your rate does not increase. Not at launch, not at v2, not after a funding round, not because your book grew. Later customers pay the later number; you pay the number you started at.

I'm willing to write that down because I know what the alternative looks like from your side of it. The standard play in software is to get you in cheap, wait until your whole book of assemblies lives in the system, and then raise the price once leaving is expensive. That isn't a pricing strategy. It's a trap with a discount on the front of it, and it makes being an early customer a gamble instead of a good deal. The lock is how I take that gamble off the table.

It goes in your agreement in writing, alongside the rate itself.

The one carve-out

Some things we build will have a meter of their own behind them: AI that costs us per token, text messages that cost us per send. Those aren't fixed costs I can absorb into a flat monthly rate forever, and pretending otherwise is how a company ends up either quietly degrading the product or quietly raising everyone's price. So when a feature like that arrives, it may carry its own price on top of your plan.

Two rules come with it, and they're the whole point: it's opt-in, and declining costs you nothing. Say no and your plan keeps working at your locked rate, with everything it does today, indefinitely. Nobody gets moved onto a more expensive plan because we shipped something new.

The lock is on your plan. It was never a promise to never build anything that costs money to run.

If your rate ever goes up while you're on the same plan, call the number below and I'll fix it.
